It is 170 km (110 mi) north of Yingkiong and is on the Siang river (Brahmaputra) bank. It is 34 km (21 mi) south of the Line of Actual Control. The indigenous Adi tribe makes up the Tuting population. On the outskirts of this town, there is a hanging bridge known as the "Ladung Bridge" that connects Tuting to other small villages in the "Pemako zone" such as Jedoh, Yukong, Kuking, and Singha.
