Gunji is located in the Pithoragarh district of northern Uttarakhand, near the border of Indo-Tibet and Nepal. The people residing here are seasonal migrants. The Kailas-Manas Sarovar trek passes through Gunji where the traveler may get food and accommodation. However, in order to reach Gunji one has to obtain an Inner line permit which is issued by SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) at Dharchula.
