At the foothills of the Shivalik Range in Punjab, about an hour from Chandigarh, sits Prakriti Farms, a nonprofit organic farm. The Ropar marsh is not far away, and migratory birds can be seen flying over the countryside. The owners are gradually re-creating an ecological habitat on the land they inherited from their forefathers after becoming horrified by the widespread disregard for nature. There are two different types of lodging available for visitors: cottages and tents. While the luxurious Swiss tents have attached toilets, the safari tents share bathrooms. Nature hikes, forested treks, and bird watching are all activities.
