Venkatagiri is a town in the Chittor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Venkatagiri sarees are often made of cotton, silk blend, or pure silk and are woven on traditional pit looms. These sarees are typically created using the Jamdani weaving technique, which has been passed down through 14 generations. This weaving craft is said to have begun during the reign of Venkatagiri Raja. Approximately 70,000 Venkatagiri residents are now employed in the production of the iconic Venkatagiri saree.
