Taksi, Jammu and Kashmir

Taksi is a village in Nubra Valley, Leh district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is located at an altitude of 3,045 meters (10,000 feet) above sea level and is about 216 kilometers from Leh, the district headquarters.

The majority of the population is Buddhist, but there is also a small Muslim minority. The main language spoken in Taksi is Ladakhi.

The village is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and is home to several Buddhist monasteries. Taksi is also a good base for exploring the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Diskit Monastery, the Hunder Sand Dunes, and the Turtuk village.
