The Royal Enclosure standing now is the remains of the Fort area. It is a huge fortified area and was the center of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Royal Enclosure is a vast site spread over 59,000 square metres. It is the place from where the Vijayanagara Ruler has resided and ruled. To accommodate and meet the needs of the Royal family, this fortified complex, once housed 43 buildings. Major attractions: The Mahanavami Dibba, Stepped Tank, Underground Chamber, King’s Audience hall, Punishment Enclosure.
