At a distance of 12 km from Pelling and 5 km from Darap Village, you will encounter a jaw-dropping view of Rimbi Waterfalls. On the way to Yuksam and Khecheopalri Lake, Rimbi waterfall is formed over Rimbi River. One of the oldest hydropower stations in Sikkim is located close to the waterfall. This power station is the source of energy for most of the villa towns of West Sikkim including Gayzing, Tigjuck and Pelling, established in the early ’70s. The waterfall turns into Rimbi River, which is constantly visited by tourists and locals for various leisure activities like fishing and swimming. Whether you are fond of fishing or not, do give a try to local preparation of Assala – a variety of fish found only here. All the tourists’ stopover here for some time while going to Kanchenjunga Waterfalls.During monsoon, the water flow is heavy and is suggested that not to venture into the fall whereas summer and winter are perfect for enjoying Rimbi.
