Bon Polashi Eco Hut at Murguma, Purulia. The satisfaction of offering an almost unknown destination with such natural beauty, and more importantly, the scope of having sustainable development in this tribal area through local participation, was the key motivating factor for the founding members. While conceptualizing Bon Polashi, they decided that all activities like maintenance of the property, cooking, etc. at the Bon Polashi Eco Hut would be carried out by the local people of Murguma. This would be a great opportunity to serve an under-developed region of the country, with a humble initiative. Our Motivation When it comes to tourism, Bengal has plenty to offer. The Dooars area, the hills of Darjeeling or the Sunderbans are known to all as attractive tourist destinations. However, very few are aware of other hidden gems scattered across the geographies of West Bengal. One such destination is the western side of the Purulia district, where our tiny village of Murguma resides. Purulia, as a district, has always had a negative perception, as it is known as one of the poorest districts of our country. However, most people often forget that nature has been at its bountiful when it comes to Purulia district – Hills, Forests, Water-bodies – you have them, it will be all in plenty, in this district. The tiny village of Murguma, in Purulia, is a very special destination. There are several hills, water bodies, forests, a reservoir, a dam and Santhal villages – all in and around one place. While moving around the several walking trails in Murguma, one would admit that Nature has indeed been very generous to this place. Our Offering After setting up Bon Polashi Eco Hut, now, people from Kolkata, Durgapur, Asansol, Ranchi and Jamshedpur have a wonderful place for a weekend trip to Purulia district. For a change they can now think beyond the routine weekend destinations. A trip to the Purulia, in our Bon Polashi Eco Hut, Murguma, is now a rejuvenating experience for the city-dwellers.
